A Day of Healing and Hope

On Sunday, 31st August 2025, St. Modestus Mission Hospital Eye and Dental Centre, in collaboration with the Society of Saint Vincent De Paul of St. John Catholic Church hosted a free eye and dental consultation that brought smiles, sight, and hope to over 83 individuals in need.

The special outreach program offered free medical checkups and 50% discounts on life-changing treatments including cataract surgeries, eyeglasses, dentures, tooth extractions, and professional teeth cleaning.

For many families in Igando and nearby communities, this was not just an event- it was a chance to receive quality healthcare that would otherwise be out of reach.

Why This Free Event Matters

Blindness and dental decay are not just health challenges, they are social and economic burdens. Every untreated cataract or missing tooth affects a person's ability to work, learn, and live with dignity.

In Nigeria alone, an estimated 4.25 million adults aged 40 years and above live with moderate to severe visual impairment, with cataract the leading cause of blindness.

At St. Modestus Mission Hospital, we believe no one should go blind or suffer from preventable oral diseases simply because they cannot afford treatment. This event was a clear example of what is possible when faith, community, and compassion comes together.
